About Susan Falcon

I’m Susan Falcon, a Gottman Certified Therapist. I help couples create close relationships, discuss unresolved issues and conflicts in a safe space, and practice healthier ways of communicating.

  • Are you disappointed in your relationship?
  • Do you long to take your relationship back to an earlier time when it was easier to communicate?
  • Are you considering taking the next step in your relationship but want to resolve some conflict and learn to have a stronger union first?
  • Are you thinking of separation or divorce, but want to try couple counseling before you call it quits?
  • Are you both struggling to put an affair behind you?

With over 30 years of experience, I have worked with all types of couples and individuals with a wide range of issues. I became interested in the Gottman method and completed the 2 years of training to become a Certified Gottman Therapist in 2013. Using extensive research and scientific studies, the Gottman Method teaches couples to manage conflict and develop more effective means of communication. As a therapist, I was attracted to the work of John Gottman as it is based on decades of research and studies with real couples. Through these studies the Gottman Institute was able to develop tools and techniques to help couples reinvent and refresh their relationship.

Couples seek counseling at all stages of a relationship. More and more couples now seek the benefits of pre-martial counseling. Stressed and exhausted new parents seek help with this challenging new stage in their relationship.
As the boomers age, they are looking for guidance with this new chapter of their marriage – retirement, health problems, and suddenly being together all day.

I work with couples of all ages and backgrounds, including non-traditional relationships.

Research shows that couples wait an average of 6 years before seeking help. By this time couples may feel desperate and hopeless to change the problems in their relationship.
There is hope for these couples to be able to grow together and to learn the tools to change negative interactions into positive ones.

Couple Counseling for One

When half of the relationship says “No Thanks” to couple counseling, it can be very frustrating for the partner who feels strongly that the relationship is in desperate need of professional help and who is ready to commit to therapy themselves. This partner can benefit from speaking with a couple’s counselor on their own. They can learn new ways of relating to their partner which can contribute to the health of the relationship. The best way to change someone is to change yourself.

I would love to help you to create a lasting and fulfilling relationship with your partner. Contact me if you would like to learn how to heal old wounds and refresh your relationship.

Individuals

As a licensed therapist for 30 years I see clients with a variety of problems, including:

  • Overcoming depression and low self esteem
  • Coping with anxiety and stress
  • Managing anger and conflict
  • Navigating the stress of conflict and divorce
  • Learning parenting and step parenting skills
  • Coping with emotional problems or abuse
  • Grieving the loss of family, friends and pets.

I look forward to meeting you and helping you to address some of the problems that may be holding you back or causing you pain. It takes courage to confront our past, have a willingness to change, and to take that first step.
